Please verify that the mysql version and php version is similar. If not please update both to the latest stable version which is the best solution for the issue that you are facing.For simple queries, you're probably safe with the 5.0 library hitting a 5.1 server, probably. You are likely to run into problems if you try to use 5.0 features, like stored procedures. The mysql 5.x library for PHP doesn't know how to deal with them right, and has no idea how to handle some of the things they can return, like multiple result sets.
